HONDA HORNET 2.0 OVERVIEW & PRICE
The new Hornet 2.0 looks familiar but is strikingly different from the CB Hornet 160R it replaces. An LED headlamp is all-new, as well as the body panels. There are bigger and bolder tank extensions, giving the Hornet 2.0 more muscle appearance, and the fuel tank capacity remains the same at 12 liters. There are premium touches, like the gold-anodized upside-down front forks and the fuel-tank mounted ignition key, that spot in bulky, more bonus, and more expensive motorcycles.
The split seat gives the Hornet 2.0 a sporty look, while the fatter rubber adds more muscle. Overall, the Hornet 2.0 looks sharper and sportier than the CB Hornet 160R it replaces, and it’s not just skin deep. It also promises a sportier performance. Honda says the engine is all-new and is not just a bored-out version of the 160 cc mill of the CB Hornet 160R.
Single-cylinder, two-valve, SOHC unit displaces 184.4cc and makes 17 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 16.1 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. Straight off, the Hornet 2.0 comes across as a likable motorcycle. The engine refines, the gear shifts slick, and it has a strong mid-range. There are some mild vibrations at the top end, but 5,000 – 7,000 rpm is where the meat of the grunt is, and it’s quite an enjoyable place to be in as you accelerate through the gears.
On the highway, it achieves 120kmph without fuss, and on a long enough stretch of road, it will max out at 130kmph, but 90-95kmph is its sweet spot, where it will happily purr for hours. Ride quality is firm without being harsh, but the suspension does protest when you hit a speed breaker or big pothole at speed. The rivals of this motorcycle are the TVS-Apache-RTR-200-4V and the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200. The current ex-showroom Honda Hornet 2.0 price is ₹ 1,39,000.
