SWM bikes is headquartered at Lombardia, Italy, a place known as the heart of the Italian motorcyclist field. It was founded in 1971 by Piero Sironi and Fausto Vergani. SWM motorcycles manufactured Observed Trials, Enduro, Motocross and off-road motorcycles in the 1970s and 1980s. They started with small capacity Sachs engined enduro bikes and began making Rotax engined trials bikes in 1977. After a long time off they came back in 2014 by introducing 6 street and off-road models. Ampelio Macchi, Engineer, formerly with Cagiva, Aprilia and Husqvarna, is the man behind the resurgence of the SWM bikes. SWM is brought to India by Motoroyale Kinetic Private Limited.
