Used Bike Value Calculator: Estimate Resale Value
Buying or selling a used motorcycle or scooter? Bikeleague India’s used bike value calculator provides an indicative value range, negotiation references and a three-year resale estimate. Enter the vehicle’s details, select any inspection findings and compare the asking price with the result.
What’s Your Bike Worth? Check Its Estimated Resale Value
The calculator uses today’s new on-road price and broad assumptions about category, age, kilometres covered, location, ownership, condition and service history. It does not retrieve model-specific market prices or verify the vehicle.
Choose buyer mode for purchase and negotiation references, or seller mode for listing and selling references. Petrol and electric categories have different inspection and document checklists.
Compare the asking price with an indicative value range, explore negotiation prices and view a three-year resale estimate. Results use broad assumptions, not live market prices.
For display only. Entering a model does not fetch specifications or market prices.
Each broad category uses one indicative depreciation curve. Specialist, unusual or collectible models may not fit these assumptions.
Manual assumption, not a verified brand rating. Choose Average if unsure.
Use the same variant’s current local on-road price, not its original purchase price. A substitute price for a discontinued model makes the estimate less reliable.
Uses calendar-year age, not the exact registration date.
Location uses a broad manual adjustment, not local market data. Ownership means the current seller’s position, before your proposed transaction.
Annual riding distance affects the resale forecast. Leave the asking price blank or enter 0 to skip the asking-price comparison.
This tool provides an indicative resale estimate, not a certified valuation, insurance IDV or purchase recommendation. It uses today’s new on-road price and broad assumptions about age, category, usage, location, condition, ownership and service history. It does not fetch live listings or completed-sale prices. Compare similar models, variants, years and locations before agreeing on a price. Displayed amounts are rounded to the nearest ₹500 and may show small rounding differences. Transfer charges, taxes, insurance, repairs, servicing, finance and running costs are excluded.

How To Use The Used Bike Value Calculator
Enter The Model And Choose A Category
The optional model name personalises the result only. It does not fetch specifications or prices.
For petrol motorcycles, choose the engine-capacity group. For petrol scooters, electric scooters and electric motorcycles, choose the corresponding vehicle type. Each category uses one broad depreciation curve, not a model-specific valuation.
Select the assumed brand resale strength. This is a manual assumption rather than a verified brand rating; choose Average if unsure.
Enter Today’s New On-road Price
Use the current local on-road price of the same model and variant, not its original purchase price or the seller’s asking price.
If the model is discontinued, a comparable current model provides only a rough reference. A different generation, specification or price position can make the result less reliable.
Add The Model Year And Odometer Reading
Select the model year and enter whole kilometres covered. The calculator uses calendar-year age: the current year minus the selected model year. It does not account for the exact manufacturing or registration month.
The year selector covers the current year and the preceding 15 years. Older vehicles are outside this version’s selectable age range.
Describe The Condition And History
Select the location category, current registered owner’s position, overall condition and service-record availability.
“Current registered owner” refers to the seller before the proposed transaction. Select “2nd owner”, for example, if the seller is the second registered owner.
The location category applies a broad manual multiplier, not city-specific market data. The neutral option leaves this location factor unchanged.
Enter Your Deal Details
Choose buyer or seller mode. Enter an asking price to compare it with the indicative range, or leave it blank or enter 0 to skip that comparison.
Enter your expected annual riding distance in whole kilometres. This affects the future odometer readings and resale estimates.
Tick Inspection Problems
Select problems identified during inspection. These apply percentage deductions to the central estimate, negotiation references and resale forecast.
The deductions are rough valuation allowances, not workshop quotations. Overall condition and individual faults may overlap, so check for double counting. A discounted estimate does not establish that a damaged vehicle is safe to buy.
Switching between petrol and electric categories resets the inspection selections because the checklists differ. Switching within the same checklist type preserves the selections.
Review The Document Checklist
The “Check before you pay” checklist changes with the selected category. Petrol vehicles show engine-number and pollution-certificate reminders, while electric vehicles show motor-identification, battery, charger and warranty checks.
These reminders do not change the estimated value. The calculator does not verify documents, complete ownership transfer or confirm battery ownership, health or warranty eligibility.
Understanding Your Results
Estimated Value
The central estimate after the selected adjustments and inspection deductions. It is a model output, not a certified market valuation.
Indicative Range
A fixed band extending 7% below and 7% above the central estimate before display rounding. It is not based on live sale prices and is not a statistical confidence interval.
Asking-price Comparison
Shows whether the asking price is below, within or above the indicative range. A price within the range does not confirm actual market value, condition or suitability.
Suggested Opening Offer
In buyer mode, a starting negotiation reference set 3% below the lower end of the indicative range.
Suggested Target Price
The midpoint between the lower end of the indicative range and the central estimate. This is a negotiation reference, not a required purchase price.
Indicative Upper Buying Limit
The upper end of the model’s range, provided as a buying reference rather than a universal walk-away price.
Reduction To Target
The amount by which the asking price exceeds the suggested target. It displays zero when the asking price is at or below that target, and a dash when no positive asking price is entered.
Suggested Listing Price
In seller mode, a reference set 4% above the upper end of the indicative range to allow negotiation room. This is not a forecast of the price buyers will accept.
Central Selling Estimate And Lower Selling Reference
The central selling estimate equals the central value estimate. The indicative lower selling reference equals the bottom of the range; it is not a compulsory minimum.
Displayed rupee amounts are rounded to the nearest ₹500. Verdicts and percentages use unrounded calculations, so small differences may not be visible in rounded figures.
How Is Used Bike Value Calculated?
The calculator starts from today’s new on-road price, applies category-specific age retention and then adjusts for usage, location, condition, ownership, service history and selected inspection findings.
Estimated value = Current new on-road price × Age-based retention × Usage adjustment × Location adjustment × Condition adjustment × Ownership adjustment × Service-history adjustment × Inspection adjustment.
Brand resale strength modifies the first-year and subsequent-year retention assumptions. These are indicative modelling choices, not official depreciation rates or measurements from live transactions.
How Age Affects The Estimate
The current-model-year calculation starts with a 93% retention factor before other adjustments. Older vehicles use a first-year retention factor followed by a compounded annual retention factor. Age-based retention has a 12% floor before the remaining adjustments.
How Kilometres Affect The Estimate
The odometer is compared with assumed annual usage for the category. Lower-than-expected usage can increase the estimate, while higher usage can reduce it. The usage adjustment is limited to an 8% increase or a 25% reduction.
How Condition And Inspection Deductions Interact
Overall condition applies a general multiplier. Selected inspection faults add a separate percentage deduction. Selecting a poor condition and ticking related faults can overlap; compare the resulting allowance with an actual inspection and repair quotation.
Using The Calculator As A Buyer Or Seller
For Buyers
Compare the asking price with the indicative range and use the opening offer and target as negotiation references. A price below the range is not proof of a bargain, and a price within it is not a purchase recommendation.
Compare similar advertised models, variants, years, kilometres and locations. Treat advertised asking prices as reference points rather than confirmed completed-sale prices.
For Sellers
Use the suggested listing price to explore an asking price with negotiation room. The central estimate and lower reference provide alternative model-based price points.
The calculator does not separately value private sales, dealer purchases or dealer retail stock.
Understanding The Three-year Resale Outlook
The table estimates value today and after one, two and three years. “Of today” compares each estimate with today’s inspection-adjusted central value, not with the asking price or your original purchase price.
- Today’s table value matches the central estimate shown above, including selected inspection deductions.
- In buyer mode, future rows assume you purchase now and become the next owner. Values use your ownership position before a later sale, capped at “4th or more”.
- In seller mode, future rows assume you retain the vehicle until a future sale. Your current ownership position remains unchanged before that sale.
- Future odometer readings add your expected annual riding distance. Today’s new-bike price, selected condition, location and service-history factors remain unchanged.
- Selected inspection deductions remain applied at the same percentage in future years. Repairs and repair spending are not modelled.
- Future changes in new-bike prices, market demand, policy, technology or model availability are not forecast.
What Do Strong, Average And Soft Mean?
These labels describe three-year value retention within the model: Strong means 70% or more of today’s estimated value, Average means 55% to below 70%, and Soft means below 55%. They are not verified forecasts of demand or guaranteed resale performance.
What Does The Buyer’s Three-year Value Comparison Include?
Buyer mode compares the suggested target purchase price with the projected three-year resale value. It describes a modelled loss or gain, not total ownership cost or guaranteed profit. Differences below ₹250 are described as small before rounding.
The comparison excludes repairs, servicing, insurance, transfer charges, taxes, finance and running expenses. If you repair the selected problems, reassess the condition and inspection selections; repair spending still needs to be budgeted separately.
Can This Calculator Value An Electric Scooter Or Motorcycle?
Yes. Select the corresponding electric category to use its depreciation assumptions and inspection checklist. Electric motorcycles and scooters have separate annual-usage assumptions.
The checklist covers battery concerns, charger problems, motor behaviour, controller or console errors and other visible faults. The battery deduction is a fixed percentage, not a state-of-health measurement or replacement-cost calculation.
The document reminders also prompt checks on battery ownership, leases or subscriptions, warranty transferability and charger availability. Selecting an electric category does not verify any of these details.
Resale Estimate And Insurance Idv
This calculator provides a resale-price reference. It does not calculate insurance IDV, use an insurance depreciation schedule or determine an insurer’s claim settlement.
Use the separate Bike IDV Calculator when exploring insurance-related value estimates.
Budget Beyond The Purchase Price
The negotiated purchase price is not your complete purchase budget. Add applicable transfer and tax costs, insurance-related spending, and the servicing or repairs identified during inspection.
Estimated purchase budget = Agreed bike price + Applicable transfer and tax costs + Insurance costs + Immediate servicing and repairs.
This calculator does not calculate those extra amounts. Keep actual quotations and applicable charges separate from its percentage-based inspection deductions.
Limitations Of This Used Bike Valuation Calculator
This tool provides an estimate, not a certified valuation or purchase recommendation.
- It does not fetch live listings, dealer bids or completed-sale prices.
- It does not automatically identify a model, variant or generation from its name.
- It does not verify registration, finance status, challans, accident history or insurance.
- It does not measure battery health or confirm warranty eligibility.
- It does not calculate transfer charges, taxes, insurance, actual repair bills or total ownership cost.
- It does not individually value accessories, modifications or collectible vehicles.
- Its broad location and category assumptions may not represent a particular local market or model.
Cross-check the output against comparable vehicles and an independent inspection before agreeing on a price.
Faq About The Used Bike Value Calculator
1. Is This Calculator Free To Use?
Yes. You can change the inputs and compare estimates without entering contact details.
2. Should I Enter The Original Purchase Price?
No. Enter today’s local on-road price for the same model and variant. The model is built around that starting point.
3. What If My Model Is Discontinued?
A comparable current model can provide a rough price reference, but the result is less reliable. The calculator does not automatically adjust for generation changes, rarity or parts availability.
4. Does Entering The Model Name Change The Estimate?
No. It personalises the result text only.
5. Should I Use The Manufacturing Year Or Registration Year?
The input asks for model year. The calculation uses that selected year and does not separately account for the registration date or manufacturing month.
6. Can I Use It For A Scooter?
Yes. Choose “Petrol scooter, any engine capacity” or “Electric scooter”, as appropriate.
7. What Happens If The Asking Price Is Blank?
The calculator still shows the central estimate, indicative range, negotiation references and resale outlook. It skips the asking-price verdict and reduction-to-target amount. Entering 0 has the same effect.
8. Does An In-range Asking Price Mean I Should Buy?
No. It means the asking price falls within a fixed ±7% band around the model’s central estimate. It does not establish actual market value or confirm that the vehicle is suitable.
9. Are Inspection Deductions Equal To Repair Costs?
No. They are percentage-based valuation allowances. Get actual quotations for repair budgeting.
10. Why Do Buyer And Seller Modes Show Different Future Values?
Buyer mode adds your purchase as the next ownership step in future rows. Seller mode assumes you retain your current ownership position until a later sale. Both use the owner’s position before the forecast sale.
Can It Predict The Exact Selling Price In Three Years?
No. It illustrates fixed assumptions about depreciation, ownership and usage. It does not forecast future market conditions or guarantee a selling price.
