YO EDGE DX OVERVIEW & PRICE
The Edge is an entry-level electric scooter from Yo Bykes. It has been designed and developed for people who want a light, accessible, and good-looking electric scooter. This scooter is equipped with decent performance and riding the range, but the brand has limited sales and service reach. Yo Edge DX targets customers belonging to a middle-class income group and residing in tier 2 and tier 3 cities and rural areas.
The Yo Edge DX has two variants – the base variant comes with VRLA lead-acid battery pack, and the top variant comes with an advanced lithium-ion battery pack. Yo Edge is a compact electric scooter with a length of 1750 mm and a width of 710 mm; the wheelbase is 1260 mm, which is more than sufficient for an entry-level electric scooter. The ground clearance is 145mm, which is low for Indian roads, and at least a minimum of 165mm requires easy riding without scrapping the underbody of the scooter.
The Yo Edge DX fits with a hub-mounted BLDC motor that churns out a max power of 250 Watts. The top speed that you get on the Edge DX is 25kmph. This motor gets its current from two battery types in two different variants – VRLA and Lithium-ion battery. The total charge capacity on both variants is similar at 1.2 kWh, which promises a riding range of up to 60 km on a single charge.
One can charge the Yo Edge DX at their home power terminal by connecting it to the charger with the scooter. The VRLA battery takes 7 to 8 hours to fully charge, while the lithium-ion battery needs only 3 to 4 hours. Lithium-ion technology, though expensive, is more practical and lasts more than double the VRLA battery’s life.
The Edge DX has a new fully digital instrument cluster with a speedometer, odometer, and battery level indicator. You also get keyless entry, a three-in-one locking mechanism, multiple-ride modes, and a reverse mode for removing the scooter in tight parking spots. Further convenience offers by an inbuilt mobile charging socket that allows the rider to charge a mobile phone on the go.
There are five color options: light Green, Red, White, Black, and Dark Blue. The brand offers three years warranty on the battery, the controller, and the converter for peace of mind. The current ex-showroom Yo Edge DX price is ₹ 49,000.
