OLA S1 PRO OVERVIEW
The Ola S1 Pro draws its power from a permanent magnet motor producing a peak power of 8.5kW and a peak torque of 58Nm, and gets a higher top speed of 115kmph. It links to a 3.97kWh lithium-ion battery pack with a claimed range of 181km. The e-scooters can charge using a home charger in 6 hours and 30 minutes. Ola’s Hypercharger network offers a 75km range for 18 minutes of charging.
The Ola S1 Pro comes with an all-LED illumination, a massive 36-litre under-seat storage, and a TFT instrument cluster with a smartphone, Bluetooth, Wi-fi and GPS connectivity. Additional standard features include side-stand-down and anti-theft alert, geo-fencing, reverse mode, Get Home Mode, Take Me Home Lights, and a Limp Home Mode. The S1 Pro also has a hill-hold function, voice assistant, and cruise control. The e-scooter also gets multiple profiles and a sound system to imitate a petrol-powered scooter.
The Ola S1 is built on a tubular frame with a curved battery pack mounted on the floorboard. It suspends on a single-sided fork up front and a mono-shock with a single-sided swingarm at the rear. The electric scooter stops using a 220mm at the front and a 180mm rear disc with standard CBS. The 165mm ground clearance is generous enough for Indian roads. It rolls on 12-inch alloy wheels wrapped with 110-section rubber at both ends. The e-scooter is slightly heavy and tips the scale at 150kg kerb.
The Ola S1 Pro competes with the Ather 450X and the Simple One. Alternatives to the Ola S1 Pro in its price bracket include the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, Yamaha FZ25, Hero XPulse 200 and the Suzuki Gixxer SF. About OLA Electric Scooters
Ola Electric Mobility is an Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer based in Bangalore. The manufacturing plant is located in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, India. The establishment of Ola Electric started in 2017 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of ANI Technologies, the parent entity of Ola Cabs. The motto for the start of this company was to reduce the emission and fuel dependency of Ola’s cabs and shift to mass electric mobility.
The factory is spread over a 500-acre, fully-automated factory in Pochampalli town in the Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu. In December 2020, the company announced its plan to set up an electric scooter manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu for ₹2,400 crores after signing a memorandum with the Government of Tamil Nadu. Ola Future factory produced its first electric two-wheeler on 15 August 2021. The factory has been manufacturing nearly 1000+ electric scooters from 2022 onwards.
While talking fundraising and investments, the company raised over 200 million dollars from Falcon Edge, SoftBank Group etc., at a valuation of 3 billion dollars in September 2021. In December of the same year, Ola Electric raised $53 million in investment from a Singaporean holding company Temasek. Ola Electric raised 200 million US dollars from multiple investors at a valuation of 5 billion US dollars in January 2022. In late March 2022, Ola invested in Israel-based battery technologies company StoreDot to incorporate and manufacture its XFC (extreme fast charging) battery technologies in India.
The current portfolio of Ola consists of three models – Ola S1, Ola S1 Pro and Ola S1 Air. Ola S1 was launched in 2020, Ola S1 Pro in 2022 and Ola S1 Air in 2023. Among these models, Ola S1 Air is the most affordable model, while Ola S1 Pro has the most features and performance.
