About Ather Electric Scooters
Ather Electric Scooters is here to capitalize on the enormous technological disruption in the automobile industry set in motion by the entry of electric vehicles into the market. They work on creating intelligent electric vehicles that will shape urban commutes and the cities of tomorrow. The company was born in 2013 by Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain. They are also developing Grid – an extensive public charging network in your town. The project already lives in Bengaluru & Chennai, with multiple charging points across both cities.
Ather Energy began operations at its Hosur, Tamil Nadu production facility on 2 January 2021. The current Ather factory has an annual capacity of 1,10,000+ scooters and 1,20,000+ battery packs. The company is in 27+ cities and 15+ states and rapidly growing. Ather Energy also established Ather Grid, an electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the cities it is present. The company has installed over 1000+ fast charging points in 23 cities as of February 2023 in India.
>Since around 2014, the company has received various investments from individuals and top companies like Hero Motocorp. The latest was in July 2020, Ather Energy raised $11.4 million from Hero MotoCorp, as a part of its Series C round funding. In November 2020, Ather Energy raised a fresh round of ₹260 crores (US$33 million) as a part of a Series D round, led by Sachin Bansal’s investment of ₹170 crores (US$21 million) and $12 million by Hero MotoCorp.
Currently, Two models are available, Ather 450 X and 450 S, Earlier, there was one more model, Ather 450 Plus, but it was discontinued recently. More than three generations of Ather 450X models are now launched with more features and updates.
