Honda CB 200X

INTRODUCTION

The Honda CB 200X is a touring motorcycle based on the Hornet 2.0. In terms of styling, it looks good, thanks to the neatly designed fairing. But in terms of specs and performance, the bike is exactly like the Hornet 2.0 and doesn’t get any additional parts to make it more touring friendly. This one is a high end variant of Honda Hornet 2.0 but with good offroading capabilities.

HONDA CB 200X OVERVIEW

The CB200X is a touring motorcycle based on the Hornet 2.0. It is available in only one variant and three colours. The Honda CB200X comes with a 184.4cc BS6 engine which develops a power of 17 bhp and a torque of 16.1 Nm. With both front and rear disc brakes, Honda CB200X comes up with an anti-locking braking system. This CB200X bike weighs 147 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 12litres.

The Hornet 2.0 is the base for the Honda CB200X. The CB 500X style inspires to sell this motorcycle in Honda’s BigWing showroom. The CB200X gets a half-fairing that features faux air vents on either side and houses a full-LED headlamp borrowed from the Hornet. It also gets a tinted windscreen and knuckle guards with built-in LED turn signals. Moreover, the CB200X also features a raised handlebar, engine sump guard, and upswept exhaust. A comfier split seat setup to complete its touring character.

While the changes to the bodywork set it apart from its street bike version, the Honda CB200X offers the same list of features. It gets a full-LED headlamp, tail lamp, and turn signals. Honda has also fitted it with a full-digital instrument cluster like the Hornet 2.0. Powering the Honda CB200X is a 184cc, single-cylinder motor that it shares with the Hornet 2.0. This engine produces 17.26PS at 8,500rpm and 16.1Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm. It comes mated to a five-speed gearbox.

Now the Honda CB200X is being positioned as a motorcycle capable of light off-road riding. However, the suspension hardware is similar to the Hornet 2.0 with upside-down forks and a mono-shock. The braking hardware is also the same 276mm discs up front and 220mm discs at the rear, accompanied by a single-channel ABS. The only difference here is the tyres. The Honda CB200X comes with 17-inch wheels are shod with block-pattern tyres at both ends road-biased tyres on the Hornet 2.0. And while the Honda CB200X does not have any direct rivals, it will face competition from the Hero Xpulse 200.

HONDA CB 200X VERDICT

PROS

  • Gets upside-down forks
  • Styling is quite aspirational
  • Good service reach
