Electrification has started from TVS and they decided to step into the segment in form of a scooter – The TVS IQUBE. This one has got all the essential features and can bring running costs down drastically. But the total cost is the biggest letdown and keeping away petrolheads from changing to electric heads. One thing to keep in mind is that the extra cost incurred initially is covered by low running costs. So should we switch to electric model ?.
The TVS iQube is an electric scooter with a motor that produces 3000 W of power. The front disc and rear drum brakes are standard on it. TVS, like a number of other large manufacturers, has joined the green revolution by launching the iQube electric scooter in India. The iQube is the company’s first electric two-wheeler, and it offers a traditional scooter-like look with a host of modern amenities, as well as decent performance and battery range. The electric scooter is powered by three lithium-ion batteries with a total capacity of 2.25 kWh. While it takes about five hours to fully charge, the claimed range is 75 kilometers.
A 4.4kW hub-mounted BLDC motor delivers 140Nm of torque at the wheel, propelling the scooter. According to TVS, the vehicle can reach a top speed of 40 kmph in Eco mode and 78 kmph in Sport mode, with an 0-40 kmph acceleration time of 4.2 seconds.
The iQube also has full-LED illumination and a full-color TFT instrument cluster with TVS’ SmartXonnect function. It also allows us to link our smartphone to the display through Bluetooth to get access to numerous information including ride stats, remote battery range, and geofence. Interestingly it comes with a Q-Park feature for easy parking.
It has 12-inch wheels and is supported by telescopic forks in the front and twin shock absorbers in the back. The front brake is a disc brake, while the rear brake is a drum brake. The electric scooter price/- starts at Rs. 1,29,893(EX Showroom) and goes up from there. It only comes in one color and one version and weighs in at 118 kg.
